Department provide teaching for medical students, Chinese medicine students and Biomedical Sciences students. In the current system-based integrated undergraduate medical curriculum, the department provides teaching for Med 3 and Med 4 student on the knowledge of Anatomical Pathology and Clinical Hematology. For the course offers to the students of Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Science, it aims to provide basic knowledge in western medicine. The department also provide teaching for students in healthcare-related discipline. All courses included lectures, tutorials, laboratories and case study session. Besides, specimen library has been developed to provide an online self-study platform for students in accessing the teaching materials which including the gross specimens, glass slides, photos and documents.
MEDU3600 Basic Pathology

This is a 3-week course aiming to help medical students bridging their pre-clinical knowledge and their upcoming clinical practice. Week 1 consists of general pathologic principles by Anatomical Pathology. Week 2 includes of immunology subjects by Chemical Pathology and Forensic Pathology particulars. Week 3 unveils the world of microbes by Microbiology.
This intensive summer course includes lectures, e-lectures, laboratories and small-group tutorials.

MEDU3310 Anatomical Pathology and Clinical Hematology

In continuation with MEDU3600 Basic Pathology, this course enables medical students to appreciate further the mechanisms of laboratory medicine, with emphasis on genomics and personalized medicine.
This course aims to illustrate the principles of diseases in an organ-system approach. The course focus on common diseases of Histopathology and Hematology. The emphasis is on the clinical context and the correlation with pathological features. Apart from conventional lectures and e-lectures, this course encourages students actively discuss common case scenarios and related laboratory investigations during small-group, laboratories/tutorials.

BCME2107 Introduction to Diseases I

This course is to provide students of the Chinese Medicine with the understanding and concepts of the pathological basis of western medicine and with basic knowledge in pathological science. In this course, the focus will be in General and Systemic Anatomical & Cellular Pathology. This course is also provide the basic understanding of Western Laboratory Medicine and the foundation to understand the practice of clinical western medicine.

BCME2106 Introduction to Diseases II

This course is a continuation of the BCME2107 to provide students of the Chinese Medicine with the understanding and concepts of the pathological basis of western medicine and with basic knowledge in pathological science. In this course, the topics mainly include Hematology, Medical Microbiology and Chemical Pathology. This course is also provide the basic understanding of Western Laboratory Medicine and the foundation to understand the practice of clinical western medicine.

SBMS3209 Clinical Anatomical Pathology

This course will equip students of Biomedical Sciences with the knowledge of pathology. Via various techniques such as specimen selection, sample sectioning, and tissue staining, students are going to examine preserved diseased organs, and to study glass slides under the microscope. Teachers would illustrate how to interpret common pathology specimens. Students can learn pathology and would observe pathology practices inside a hospital pathology department, through a mix of lectures, tutorials, visits, on-line library and self-studies.
